Holy Trinity Cathedral full capacity for Mandela service

In Auckland, hundreds gathered within the sacred halls of Holy Trinity Cathedral today to remember Nelson Mandela.

Although his body is lying thousands of miles away, many continued to arrive to honour a great man.

These South African descendants say although a great pillar of their homeland has fallen, they will continue to pay their respects through celebration.

Prayers, hymns and words of joy in remembrance of Madiba were flowing today, with MPs, councillors, South African delegates and many others arriving for the occasion.

Many words were shared, describing Madiba's anti-apartheid stance. Many also took time to remember Mandela's visit to NZ in 1995.

Although Madiba is lying in state in his home nation, condolences, farewells and tears are still flowing here in NZ for the father of South Africa.
