Taiohi Tātaki of Massey High School, Te Wao Nui o Tiriwa hails from the Tāmaki Makaurau rohe and represents Te Kawerau ā Maki, Te Waiōhua and Te Taoū.
Awanuiarangi Black and Awa Hudson established the group in 1991, and today, they are excited to make their debut on the national stage.
The group is tutored by Mau Tai Tin, Karina Rātima, Hone Tobin, and Hemi and Ngahiriwa Tai Tin, who say their group strives to achieve the heights in all areas of education and whānau.
Their bracket speaks of the history of Ngāti Whātua in Tāmaki Makaurau, and also recognises the historical events of Te Whetū o Matarau.
Here is their haka, a fierce story outlining the war between the gods.
