67.4% of voters in Te Tai Hauāuru say they would want the Māori Party to go into coalition with National if National wins the General Election.
Native Affairs revealed the results of it’s Reid Research poll for Te Tai Hauāuru in the second of it’s Māori Electorate debate specials last night.
The poll asked voters if National wins the next election, do you want the Māori Party to be at the table working with National?
While 27.4% of those polled said No to another coalition, the majority thought it would be better to have the Māori Party at the table than not at all.
Candidates vying for Te Tai Hauāuru which included the Māori Party’s Chris McKenzie, Jack Tautokai McDonald from the Greens, Adrian Rurawhe of Labour and from the MANA Movement Jordan Winiata.
Poll results also revealed that Labour was ahead in the rohe with the Party vote sitting at 36%, while the Māori Party came in second with 23%. National are on 12% followed closely by the Green Party and Internet-MANA Party on 11%, while NZ First sits on 7%.
Leading the candidates is Chris McKenzie with 32%, Adrian Rurawhe is right behind him on 29%, Jack McDonald received 11%, while 10% said they would vote for Jordan Winiata and 18% say they don't know, none of these, or would not vote.
