New Zealand's actions at Gallipoli remembered

A special exhibition remembering the actions of NZ soldiers at Gallipoli has opened this morning. “Gallipoli: The New Zealand story in Colour” is the first extension the Great War Exhibition and focuses on New Zealand’s story during WW1.

The Gallipoli story features over 200 colourised photographs and paintings, a detailed list of New Zealand soldiers and their respective regiments, reillustrated war letters as well as a diorama depicting the battle of Chunuk Bair.

The diorama has 5000 tiny pewter soldiers which have been hand painted by approximately 60 wargamers across the country as well as war gaming enthusiasts from Britain, Germany and South America.

Each year the New Zealand room will be updated to reflect the anniversary year of the centenary.
