Hana O Regan has been appointed General Manager – Oranga for Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu.
Chief Executive, Arihia Bennett announced O’Regan’s appointment to the newly created position which will be responsible for leading the four key focus areas of education, employment, financial literacy and business creation at the Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu.
Arihia Bennett says, “I am very happy to have someone of Hana’s calibre, expertise and commitment to her iwi as part of my executive team. Hana’s impressive leadership at the Canterbury Polytechnic Institute of Technology, leading five work streams with well over a hundred staffing personnel, shows she has the necessary strategic implementation and management experience required for this role.”
“This role is going to be part innovator, part creator, part developer, part enabler, but more importantly requires someone who is a leader. In Hana, we have someone with the energy, determination and aptitude to ensuring success for whānau through realising whānau rangatiratanga,” says Ms Bennett.
Hana O’Regan, spent ten years working at the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT) prior to her appointment to this role.
“I am extremely happy to be returning to Te Rūnanga after spending a long time at CPIT. I'm looking forward to the opportunity through my new mahi to contribute directly to the economic, financial, political and cultural independence and sustainability of my iwi. To be able to play a vital role in achieving these things is an opportunity for me to realise my own goals, as well as the goals of my iwi,” said Ms O’Regan.
O’Regan will take up her new role next year.
