Waihīrere Māori Club affiliate to Pārihimānihi marae, the hapū of Ngāti Wāhia and Ngāti Kōhuru and the iwi of Te Aitanga-a-Mahaki.
Established in 1952 the group has performed at the Annual Karaitiana Tamararo Competition since inception to present day.
Waihīrere Māori Club has a rich history in haka, performing around the country and across the world which also included an invitation to perform Dame Kiri Te Kanawa's 50th birthday.
Tangiwai and George Ria are the tutors and kaitātaki tane and wahine.
Waihirere Māori Club has chosen to share their Waiata-a-ringa, Tangihia rā te pere composed by Waihīrere Māori Club and dedicated to Karaitiana Tamararo and Meri Taumaunu Tamararo who established the Tamararo festival.
