Well-known for their expertise in mau rākau, Te Taha Tū are the tenth team to take the stage at Auckland’s Vector arena today.
The West-Auckland group was first established in 2010 and have been strong contenders at the past three regional competitions.
The group is led by Hemi Tai Tin and his wife Ngahiriwa Tai Tin. They both also tutor the group alongside Mau TaiTin, Wiremu Tai Tin and Karina Ratima.
The item they’ve chosen to share today is their Whakaeke titled 'Tūwhakaāio' composed by Hemi, Mau and Wiremu Tai Tin. The Whakaeke tells the story of Te Whare Tū Taua and the important role it plays in maintaining peace and the equilibrium of protection against those that threaten the protection of the innocent.
