One person is dead after an alleged serious assault in Ngāruawāhia on Wednesday night.
Police responded to the incident at a residential address in Cavan Street shortly before 9.30pm.
"One person has been taken into custody and charges are being considered," Police said in a statement.
"Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are underway and further information will be released proactively when it is available."
