Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāti Pūkenga will be gathering on Monday to pay respect to Kiingi Tuheitia.

Kiingi Tūheitia has taken time out of a packed Olympic Games itinerary to pay his respects to fallen New Zealand soldiers in Arras, France.

He is the first Māori monarch to attend the Olympic games.

The meeting coincides with the annual Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture (FestPAC)

Saturday marks the first of three major events for te ao Māori, all within three weeks.
