A drive through hāngī in Rotorua has proved to be a major success after selling out on their orders today.
Māori-owned tourist attraction Mitai Māori Village came up with the idea to earn some cash after closing due to COVID-19.
Founder Wetini Mitai-Ngatai says he is grateful for the support from the community.
"It's all about looking after our whānau and thanks to the government subsidiary that's enabled us to keep people and that's why we're looking at different ways and we do have other ideas which we will proceed as time goes on. Right now we're just concentrated on getting out there, just getting the blood running."
Kia ora e te whānau, we are doing hāngī this Friday 29th May! It is click and collect and pick-up will be from Mitai...

The village has 80 staff members of Te Arawa, Mataatua, Indian and Pākeha descent. This week they prepared lamb and chicken hāngi.
They will take more orders for next Friday, June 5 when chicken and pork will be on the menu.
People can order from their website and the hāngī can be picked up from Mitai Māori Village. Orders of 10 or more can be delivered for free.
